Psalm 124:8: “Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
This verse meant a lot to me yesterday. I was tired and perhaps a bit discouraged, and needed reminding that God is the One who has called me to this ministry and He is the One working through it and establishing it. The whole Psalm is about when God with is with us, opposition and difficulty and challenge cannot overcome us. I especially love this reminder here in verse 8 that the One who is helping us is “the maker of heaven and earth.” I’ve been thinking about this recently while walking my dog outside. As I see the beautiful trees and mountains and birds and insects and clouds, I remind myself, “the One who created that mountain, pushing it up out of the earth’s crust over vast stretches of time, is the One who is helping me in my life and ministry. The same patience and power that made that mountain is making me.” Or: “the One who made that insect, with all its intricacy and amazing composition, is the One who has designed my life and ministry. The same intricate, unfathomable wisdom has brought me to this exact place, to these relationships and opportunities and challenges.” Or: “the One who designed that hummingbird to have wings that flap so incredibly quickly is working in me. The One who makes the leaves on that huge tree turn color and fall every year like clockwork is guarding me. The One whose glory is just faintly whispered through the sun rays streaming through that cloud formation is helping me.” Knowing that changes everything.
Psalm 118:7: “The LORD is with me; he is my helper.”

Amen and Amen.
FYI too: I Tim 1:16 But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. 17 To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
